Jesse Dangerously @ CMW 2006
- March 4, 2006
- Toronto, ON
- Holy Joe's
- 4 / 5

Hometown: Halifax, NS
Background/Composition: East coast MC delivers dense, intelligent lyrics backed by DJ Uncle Fester.
Grade: 80
Comment: The bearded, bespectacled Dangerously had one of the highest degree-of-difficulty components to his set, given that a fire alarm went off early on and cleared a good portion of the room. He battled on bravely, though, channeling his frustration into a solid, if not spectacular, performance.

standard.

standard.

way.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: When the fire alarm began to squeal, Dangerously got off a great line, suggesting that "somehow, wack MCs are behind this." The bad break did disrupt his momentum, though, and it took him a while to get back into his rhythm in front of a crowd that ended up decidedly smaller than it started.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: Dangerously drops the kind of rhymes that practically demand keeping a thesaurus handy, and they're not always intelligible in a live setting. But he did exhibit stamina and playfulness, proving he could wrestle a photographer without breaking lyrical stride.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: There was a point in the show, a couple of songs after the alarm, when Dangerously let go of his bad luck and poured everything into the mic, rarely stopping for breath as he blazed through his songs. The people who left actually missed the better half of his performance. But for reasons beyond his control, it's hard to form a judgement of him based on this show.
