Hometown: Toronto, ON
Background/Composition: Dark groove post-punk minimalists.
Grade: 90
Comment: Including elements of punk, rock, electronic, grunge and goth, Uncut's sound doesn't make you want to make you dress in black and stay home. It forces you to jump and yell along with the band as they celebrate noise.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: Uncut don't really break musical ground with their loud beat driven indie rock, but they break records for fist pumping. Everyone in the crowd proudly punched their arms in the air along with the anthem like post-punk rockers. Each band member worshipped their instrument. Three different members sang different songs, allowing for breaks from Ian Worang's monotone drone.

Songs: E
Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: This was simple melodic indie rock. Nothing complex or astonishing, but the boys know what they're doing and each song was executed with a certain Interpol-like darkness but light-hearted rock-ness. The build-ups and wind-down's were heart racing and the crowd went wild for every chorus of the night. Uncut didn't back down with the Joy Division-on-speed inspired set.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step: Although the songs were dark sounding and serious at the core, they were fast, jerky and layered enough that the entire audience was dancing by the end, and I mean everyone. They created an intense roomful of rock 'n' roll. When a band can participate in the dancing chaos they've inspired, it's a good sign they don't take things too seriously and really just want to indie rock-out.
