The Rolling Stones may have had the honour of bestowing their infamous lips logo across the top of the stage, but even before Aussie blues-rockers AC/DC hit the stage it was obvious that this was going to be their crowd.
Throngs of excited bandana-sportin', dope-smokin' rockers rang out in a call-and-response game of "AC!" "DC!"
Ripping into the aptly titled "Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be," it was clear that even these bad boys were pretty excited to be a part of Canadian history in the making. Working their most popular material over for the extremely appreciative crowd, the band hasn't appeared this energetic since oh, 1988.
Even guitar whiz Angus Young's typical strip show during the slow blues of "The Jack" was entertaining. Expecting the dude to be somewhat saggy given his age, he revealed some pretty impressive underwear! Nice Canadian flag ones which sent the crowd into hysterics.
Most impressive though, was singer Brian Johnson's heartfelt thanks to the crowd time and again. His "thanks for bringing us here" (kind of funny, given that the majority of their set was comprised of Bon Scott-penned tunes, not his own), was topped only by a large We Salute You Toronto emblazoned on every video screen as the band left the stage.
They had us in the palm of their hands.
Who wouldn't be butter after 12 hours of hot sun and a grande finale of "Highway To Hell?"
