Background/Composition:
This Toronto quartet once served as former Broken Social Scene member Jason Collett’s backing band and broke out on their own last year with their Say Us debut.
Grade: 78
Comment:
Every member of Zeus is proficient on each of the instruments they use. They switch things up every few songs, and it’s something more bands should do. It’s also an easy way to rack up points in the “Use Of Stage” category.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
The Horseshoe’s usually packed during CMW, but Zeus had the crowd enthralled the second they went on stage, dancing and jumping. If it wasn’t impossible to mosh during Beatles-esque tunes, a pit probably would have broken out.

Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
One of Zeus’ new tunes incorporates Queen-esque harmonies, and their last record saw them playing with Beatles three-part harmonies. In light of this, I suggest they all immediately cut their hair, shave their beards and start dressing like Freddie Mercury to play this up.
