Now 21 years old Simpson is going for a sexier sound. Irresistible has been touted as the album that shows she's grown as a young woman, though it should be noted it takes more than wearing see-through clothes, with airbrushed, non-existent nipples, to show that you have matured. You need substance and experience to back up that statement. Lyrics like "Are you gonna be a dog or a gentleman" (on "What's It Gonna Be?") sound humourous enough coming out of Lil' Kim's mouth, but Jessica Simpson's virginal countenance and squeaky clean American Pie look just make it all Velveeta.
