Brilliant Career is a sleeper hit.
Film School’s debut album, Brilliant Career, is pretty damn good, and ought to make people take notice. Composed mainly of Pavement’s Scott Kannberg, Fuck’s Kyle Statham, Glitter Mini 9′s Mauri Skinfill, Film School’s album is what can only be described as quiet, sarcastic lullaby music. It’s lightly euphoric to the point of dark dystopia. With hints of My Bloody Valentine and Sparklehorse, the overall sound is angelic, soft and distorted. The layers of guitars and keyboards complicate the overall ease of the record to the point where it’s almost depressing to listen. But like any sleeper hits, all this indie band needs is time and recognition.
