We love this centerfold from the Dec/Jan issue of Chart magazine so much that we thought we would give it to our loyal readers of ChartAttack as our holiday gift. Photog supreme Richard Beland was given 10 minutes to shoot this shot with Green Day and he managed to nail it.

Here is Richard's recollection of the encounter with Green Day:

"They kept calling me Dick [short for Richard.] 'Hey Dick!' 'Are we ready yet Dick?' 'C'mon Dick!' I duct-taped the U.S. flag on the wall and Mike Dirnt came in and used the tape to write 'Void' on the flag. I'm not sure of the reason. It was cool. Tre cool!"

Granted, some of our young readers might not recognize the rock symbolism in the photograph. Richard borrowed the idea from The Who's The Kid's Are Alright.

He says, "Green Day remind me of The Who - songs with an edge containing catchy pop hooks and also the obvious aggression."

This year, Richard photographed 13 Photo Of The Week for us. They included: Gord Downie, Eminem, Thom Yorke, Eddie Vedder, KISS, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots, Maynard James Keenan, Raine Maida, The Cure and Trent Reznor.
