Music Nova Scotia Awards Nominees

David Myles and Old Man Luedecke lead the list of nominees for this year's Music Nova Scotia Awards. Both singer/songwriters have five nods each, including male artist, SOCAN songwriter and entertainer of the year.

The Tom Fun Orchestra were nominated four times, while Wintersleep, Tomcat Combat, Christina Martin, Chad Hatcher and Jon McKiel are up for three prizes.

The George Canyon-hosted awards show takes place on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. at the John Brother MacDonald Stadium in New Glasgow as part of Nova Scotia Music Week, which runs from Nov. 6 to 9. Myles, Old Man Luedecke, Laura Peek And The Winning Hearts, Gypsophilia, Jamie Sparks and Meaghan Smith will perform. You can vote for the Aliant entertainer of the year award at aliant.net until Oct. 24.

There will be a music industry awards brunch on the same day at 11 a.m. at the Museum Of Industry in Stellarton, N.S. A songwriters' circle will be staged at at the DeCoste Centre in Pictou, N.S. on Nov. 8.

Nova Scotia Music Week is an annual event that showcases the province's artists to the public and recognizes their achievements with its own awards. It's held by Music Nova Scotia, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Nova Scotian musical talent. You can find more details here.
