Comforting yet adventurous and playful.

Stereolab has been on hiatus since 2009, and since then no one's reached the heights of their fancy motorik pop. Except maybe Lætitia Sadier, the band's lead singer, who's following up her second solo album Silencio with a new project called Something Shines, from which "Then, I Will Love You Again" is taken. Like her other solo work, it retains her previous band's playfulness and style, full of flaring horns and strings underneath a familiar guitar jangle. Comforting yet adventurous as the thought of moving into a wooden bike basket (non-rent-controlled) and escaping the city with the help of a friendly giant.

Laetitia Sadier's new album Something Shines is out August 23 via Drag City; buy "Then, I Will Love You Again" on iTunes.
