A lot's changed for Warren Hildebrand since Foxes In Fiction released Swung From The Branches in 2010. His ambient pop loop project seemed to go quiet after he founded Orchid Tapes, which has attracted plaudits for releases from Ricky Eat Acid, Alex G, Coma Cinema, Meishi Smile and on and on. But this September, Foxes In Fiction will release Ontario Gothic, on which you'll find the new single "Shadow's Song."

The introduction's rippled Echo Chamber Of Melody is brought to a Julee Cruise vision of nightmare pop by guest Owen Pallett's strings, which act as both the tether and the harnessed. The mixture of flaring psychedelic pop and orchestral elements is startling, both morose and beatific, especially when they join hands and drift off into a crescendo someplace shitty and wonderful.

Foxes In Fiction's new album Ontario Gothic is out September 23 via Orchid Tapes; pre-order it here.
