The Body and The Haxan Cloak merge souls for new album I Shall Die Here, release “Hail To Thee, Everlasting Pain”

Listen to "Hail To Thee, Everlasting Pain" now.

- Feb 4, 2014

The Body are an art-metal duo from Portland whose Christ, Redeemers turned heads all the way around and made them puke green bile. The Haxan Cloak will be working with the band on their new album I Shall Die Here, his biggest project since helping out on Yeezus and releasing the dank sonic tomb that was Excavation.

First single "Hail To Thee, Everlasting Pain" is hurt music without theatrics or fetishism. Calling it "pitch black" would reduce it. The despair contains distinct antechambers that progress in a downward spiral, from putrid and devastated techno into guitars that suddenly rend the track apart like a demon emerging from previously human flesh. It's "dark" in the way a sealed void is, with no hint of light or life. Like true darkness, it has different colours and shapes that allow your mind to print shapes and auras on it, complicit with the reality that your own ideas of nothingness are far more horrifying than nothingness itself.

The Body & The Haxan Cloak's I Shall Die Here is out April 1st via RNVG; pre-order it here.
