CHVRCHES cover Bauhaus’ “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” from Vampire Academy soundtrack

Hear the Scots get more “shiny goth” than ever.

Before today I had never seen or heard of Vampire Academy, the new film that features CHVRCHES on the soundtrack with a cover of Bauhaus' “Bela Lugosi's Dead.” I still haven't seen a trailer or visited an IMDB page, but based on the above album art, I'll try and type out what I imagine could be the synopsis as dictated by one of those trailer voices you never hear anymore:

“She was the approachable hot vampire who couldn't find her place in normal vampire school...she was the mentor figure, also hot, and also a vampire, but in a way that makes her seem like she could be evil in the last third of the movie...now, the girl who could never fit in is getting a chance to kill evil vampires IN...Vampire Academy. Can she walk across the longest quad in Eastern Europe and kill the vampires? Find out this summer, only on Spike TV.”

Was I close? I'll check later. For now, sink your teeth (ha!) into “Bela Lugosi's Dead.” It's easy to enjoy if you're not one of those crappy dudes who sulked about one of the One Direction dudes wearing Joy Division shirts. It's digestible, dark, and ornately made, like a really sick Halloween costume.

The Vampire Academy soundtrack is out February 4th on Universal.
