Watch the two songwriters go on an acoustic road trip that's probably murder free.

“Pelican Canyon” is an acoustic duet from Beth Jeans Houghton and Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands, a tribute to a road trip the two folkies shared. Sam flew to L.A. from Baltimore, picked up Beth - who he'd never met before - in a rented car, and off they went around fifteen states, each somehow certain that the other person wasn't a murderer. Or maybe they both were, and that was the point?

Even if the two were on some kind of Satanic state-to-state murder spree, it's left out of the video, a touching iPhone travelogue of different tourist traps and natural wonders. Deep affection abounds, especially in the song, as two sharply contrasting voices weave through each other like steel wool and the regular sheep kind.

No word on a release date for the single or a Beth Jeans Houghton and Samuel T. Herring album, but Singles from Future Islands is still out March 25th via 4AD.
