[album stream] WTCHS Wet Weapons EP

Grim, uncompromising post-punk from Hamilton.

WTCHS make fraught post-punk. It's personal, like a solo listening session in your room that maxes out your system's db, or a tiny basement gig, or a fistfight outside an empty bar with your best friend. From the text of their email they sent us linking their EP Wet Weapons, previously only available on cassette, there's the impression that they posted it online pretty reluctantly. “all of the songs were made for tape, and meant to be listened on tape.” This is the biggest compromise you'll get from the band, who write songs as grim as a knife in the stomach with a focused, near pathological intensity, putting them in that special category of Sonic Youth indebted bands that write what could be theme songs for abattoirs.
