Divine Fits – A Thing Called Divine Fits

Spoon/Handsome Furs collaboration Divine Fits isn't just some side project. It's purified pop.

- Aug 13, 2012

With the release of Divine Fits’ debut A Thing Called Divine Fits, it’s clear that Dan Boeckner and Britt Daniel were meant to be. They have a lot in common: their sensibilities lie in the same pool of angular pop perfection, both have voices culled from the Paul Westerberg School of raspy singers, and they’re naturally cool guys that can wear leather jackets without looking like assholes. A Thing Called Divine Fits finds Boeckner, Daniel, New Bomb Turks' Sam Brown with Alex Fischel on keyboards in something that is decidedly not a side project. You can hear the restrained and perfectly mixed rock of Spoon and the electronic splashes of Handsome Furs, but the resulting concoction is a new blend of purified pop.

Stream the album over at NPR and pick up the record August 28 via Merge.
