Video: Devendra Banhart, “Mondo Taurobolium”

A noir Duck Tails trapped in psychedelic madhouse.

- Dec 3, 2013

Somewhere inside Galen Pehrson, there's a seven year old with an enthusiasm for noir and psychedelics. That's who showed up to work on “Mondo Taurobolium,” an interpretation of Devendra Banhart's “Taurobolium” which really lives up to the added word. Imagine a Tex Avery cartoon trying desperately to salvage its last shred of integrity from helL.A's babbling automatons, and ending up eating all the psilocybin-laced truffles at the Iron Man 4 release party. Banhart and Rose McGowan lend their voices.

Devendra Banhart's Mala is out now on Nonesuch. Pehrson's video for Death Grips' “True Vulture” was one of the best of 2012.
