Background/Composition: DIANA are a synth-pop band whose music usually makes critics flip through a tropical vacation guide and point at a word. BUT NOT TONIGHT.
Songs from their debut album Perpetual Surrender got revamped into droney warm-ups, highlighting the gloom already present.
Rather than self-indulgent, the band seemed genuinely curious in travelling the different paths contained in their songs..
A bunch of people left. On one level I sympathize with the audience members who came expecting something a bit more standard. But if you don't at least appreciate the spirit of the performance you need to throw yourself into a volcano with the quickness.
