Thom Yorke Not Fond Of Canadian Tar Sands

Thom Yorke

Radiohead singer Thom Yorke posted a short note on the band's website on Wednesday (March 31), which didn't exactly praise Canada's tar sands project.

In a post entitled "mr sensible strikes a pose," Yorke wrote the following:

"your bank may be investing your pension, if you have one, in the Tar Sands of Canada..that is messed up..you're pension wont be worth shit if you dont have a planet to live on. A lot of people are doing sumfing about it here."

Yorke linked to the Tar Sands: Counting The Cost website to shed more light on the situation. The site asks British pension scheme members to force oil companies like Shell and BP PLC to review their tar sands development and investments in such projects.

It's not the first time Yorke has taken the Great White North to task for the tar sands. He called Canada out for the tar sands in a March 3 post called "sticky Tar Chart rant."

"canadians came to the copenhagen summit demanding to increase their co2 emmissions," he wrote. "principally cuz of the tar sands and how much money the faceless motherfuckers in the oil industry stand to make out of it..

"i find it hard to correlate this all with the canadians i know who are very forward thinking..."

Yorke will spend part of April touring the U.S. with his new Atoms For Peace side-project.
