This should pretty much certify that punk rock is dead: There's a new line of Clash Converse shoes.
Yes, Clash Converse shoes. Joe Strummer would spit all over these.
The Chuck Taylors kicks have been released in part to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of 1979's London Calling. Four different designs are available.
The first is white with white and green laces and feature "LONDON CALLING" in the same pink font used on the album cover. They're the most expensive, and are going for around $80 U.S. (about $83 Canadian).
A black set of digs with a skull and crossbones and Combat Rock-era Vietnamese (we think?) characters is running for around $50 (about $52 Canadian), while a similar red set is also available for 10 bones more.
Another pair, inspired by Combat Rock and the band's 1977 debut, is available in combat gear-style canvas with red laces and reggae inspired red, yellow and green buttons. Yes, buttons. Those are going for about $65 (about $67 Canadian).
Check out all four pairs here.
Former Clash guitarist Mick Jones released a new full-length album with his Carbon/Silicon project — which also includes former Generation X frontman Tony James - for free late last year.
