Gaslight Anthem Speak American Slang On New Album

Whether there is actually such a thing as American slang is a matter of debate, considering English in the United States varies with each geographic region, and the United States is a pretty big country.

But though we deal with language, we aren't linguistics experts and are just here to tell you about the new Gaslight Anthem album.

American Slang is out June 15 through SideOneDummy. The follow-up to 2008's critically acclaimed The '59 Sound was produced by former Flogging Molly guitarist Ted Hutt (The Bouncing Souls, Jesse Malin), who recorded the album at New York's Magic Shop studio. No track listing has been revealed yet.

Although The Gaslight Anthem have drawn comparisons to Bruce Springsteen in the past, singer/guitarist Brian Fallon says American Slang sounds less like their influences.

"For the last record we really looked into it and we asked, 'What are our influences and how do we jam them in?'" he told NME.com. "And on this one, we're writing songs that we feel are relevant to us."

The Gaslight Anthem have announced a few European dates in late June and early July in support of American Slang.
