Weakerthans Live CD/DVD Coming Soon

The Weakerthans
"I hate Winnipeg."

John K. Samson sings those words in The Weakerthans' "One Great City!," but perhaps Samson has a bit more affection for his hometown than he'd have you believe.

The Weakerthans are set to release a CD/DVD package featuring a concert shot in April 2009 in the frigid Manitoban city. Live At The Burton Cummings Theatre is due out March 23 through Anti- Records and features 18 songs performed by the band during their tour in support of 2007's Polaris Music Prize short listed Reunion Tour.

The package features songs from all four of the band's albums and artwork created by bassist Greg Smith, which Smith painted while on tour. Live At The Burton Cummings Theatre also sees the band with an expanded lineup, including trumpet, violin and female backing vocalists.

The Weakerthans are laying low this winter, not doing too much according to Samson, other than playing a few live dates here and there.
