The Los Angeles County District Attorney will charge Conrad Michael Murray, Michael Jackson's doctor, with involuntary manslaughter on Monday (Feb. 8) in connection to the pop star's death, according TMZ.
It was reported earlier this week that Murray was planning on surrendering himself to the Los Angeles Police Department in connection to Jackson's death, but his lawyer later denied those reports. Nonetheless, news outlets continued to report he'd been meeting with lawyers and was still considering surrendering to authorities.
The internets were full of chatter on Thursday (Feb. 4) that Murray would be charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson's death on Friday (Feb. 5). Rumours Murray would be charged in connection with Jackson's death have been spreading since last month.
That said, there's some doubt in the media over whether Murray will even be charged, since TMZ reported the Los Angeles County District Attorney and the LAPD are fighting over what to do about Murray. The website says the LAPD wants him arrested and brought to court, while the DA's office has apparently been negotiating Murray's surrender to police with his lawyers.
Jackson passed away June 25, 2009 after going into cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home. Murray has been at the centre of a manslaughter investigation since Jackson died. The King Of Pop's death was officially ruled a homicide in August when the Los Angeles County coroner's office said he died as a result of "acute" intoxication from pain medication propofol.
Murray told detectives he'd tried to get Jackson to sleep by giving him Valium on June 25, and followed that with injections of lorazepam and midazolam and propofol, according to a search warrant affidavit. Murray also reportedly told police he'd been giving Jackson 50 milligram injections of propofol every night.
Murray has denied any wrongdoing in Jackson's death.
