Arcade Fire License Song To NFL For Haiti Relief

Arcade Fire

We never thought it would happen, but Arcade Fire have gone corporate.

No, seriously. The Montreal indie rockers have licensed "Wake Up," from 2004's Funeral, to the National Football League (NFL) to use in the Super Bowl on Sunday (Feb. 7).

But of course, there's a catch: all proceeds from the license will be donated to Partner's In Health's relief efforts in Haiti.

You wanna take back that shout of "sell out!" now?

Arcade Fire have been promoting Haitian earthquake relief efforts since the news broke about the 7.0-magnitude quake just outside the Caribbean nation's capital, Port-Au-Prince. Of course, they've got a personal connection to the island: Multi-instrumentalist Regine Chassagne was born in Haiti and her family immigrated to Canada during the years of the Papa Doc dictatorship.

Arcade Fire are said to be working on the follow-up to 2007's Neon Bible with producer Markus Dravs, who also helmed their last record. It should be out sometime this year. We'll have more info from you whenever they decide to remove their cloaks of secrecy +4.
