Patrick Stump Knows He's Not Part Of Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy

On Tuesday (Feb. 2), we reported that Fall Out Boy "didn't know" whether they were finished as a band.

Well, singer/guitarist Patrick Stump is finally starting to make sense of this nonsense. He sure knows where he stands, and he says he's done.

"I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now," Stump pretty bluntly said in an interview with Spin.com, crushing the hearts of sensitive 15-year-olds everywhere.

"But one way or another, the band will always be around."

That's of course unless someone destroys all the Fall Out Boy music that exists in the world.

Stump went on to say that "Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons."

Somewhere, the seven members of the Patrick Stump fanclub are quietly sobbing.

The quartet's originally reported break might now actually be a break-up, but none of them seem to know or want to say exactly what the future holds for the Chicago pop-punkers, or if there's even a future for the band.

Oh, you guys are as bad as Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson!

Bassist Pete Wentz made an attempt to address break up rumours on his blog on Monday (Feb. 1).

"as far as i know fall out boy is on break. (no one wants to say the "h" word.)," he wrote.

That's probably because a lot of people know what that word really means.

For now, Fall Out Boy are working on non-related FOB projects of their own: Wentz recorded a song for Tim Burton's film adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland with Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, while guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley joined forces with members of Anthrax and Every Time I Die to form The Damned Things.

Hurley's also working on his Burning Empires side-project, while Stump is concentrating on a solo album where he'll reportedly play all the instruments.

"I'm really not worried about Fall Out Boy," Stump said. "I'm so psyched about where I'm at right now, recording this solo album."

Good thing he finally made up his mind. Last week, he was insisting it wasn't a "solo album." Looks like "solo album" is the new "hiatus."
