Flaming Lips Playing Dark Side Of The Moon At Bonnaroo 2010

You'll be able to watch The Flaming Lips perform their cover of Pink Floyd's classic 1972 The Dark Side Of The Moon album at this year's Bonnaroo Festival, and chances are the moon will be out while they're playing music that sounds like something crawling out of the back of your head.
The official Bonnaroo lineup's not out yet, but Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne told Spinner the band will play a midnight set on June 10, the first day of the four-day festival in Manchester, Tenn.
They'll begin playing their cover of Dark Side — which was released in December — at 2:30 a.m., which means you get to stay up extra late, tripping on 'shrooms and acid and seeing amazing things, maaaaaan. Just a note: that really will be Coyne walking around inside a gigantic, translucent plastic bubble — so you at least won't be hallucinating that.
"We did it at the New Year's Eve show [in Oklahoma City] just knowing everybody's gonna be taking acid, staying awake until five in the morning," Coyne told the website. "We might as well just be jamming on some freak-out music.
"I don't think it'll be that much of a stretch to think Friday night at 2:30 in the morning at Bonnaroo would be that much different than being in Oklahoma City on New Year's Eve. I'm sure people will be having their own party while we play this space rock or whatever. In that sense it's perfect for that."
I think Coyne should do the entire show switching between that giant ball and the bathtub he shows up in on Google Street View, but maybe that's just me. If they really want to fuck everyone's minds up, they could take a break, then come back dressed as characters from The Wizard Of Oz.
The Flaming Lips' cover of The Dark Side Of The Moon features guest appearances from Henry Rollins and Peaches. There's no word if they'll appear with the band at Bonnaroo.
Meanwhile, Live Daily is reporting Paul Simon will headline a day at Bonnaroo, though nothing's been officially confirmed yet. Bonnaroo's lineup will be announced next Tuesday (Feb. 9).
