"What the heck is Lady Gaga doing?" is probably becoming a common question in every household at this point, given the singer whose real name is Stefani Germanotta looks completely messed up at nearly every awards show, on every television program she plays and at every festival.

Here is a list of Lady Gaga's 10 most ridiculous performances so far:

1. "Paparazzi" at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards

Gaga appeared on stage lying down, and when she got up, she looked like some kind of possessed, demonic rabbit. She then walked over to a piano, put one leg up on the keyboard and headbanged like no pop singer has. Ever. It ended with the infamous hanging incident:

You know the deal here. Exploding tits. Eat it, Madonna.

3. "Bad Romance" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

It's like what would happen if French pantomine shows and The Phantom Of The Opera mixed with a sex demon.

4. "Speechless" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

It's like your grandfather's easy chair just invaded her shoulders.

5. "Speechless," "Your Song" and "Poker Face" with Elton John at the 2010 Grammy Awards

It's like they're glittery, sparkly, hallucinatory, Liberace-referencing butterflies.

It's like the sex bunny thing, except this time she's the Devil's teddy bear.

This is Gaga being all tongue-in-cheek and sly. There are multiple "queen" references here. She's performing for the Queen, she's wearing rhinestones as a references to other queens and she's dressed as Elizabeth I, who, yes, was a queen. Not that kind of queen. The regent kind. Um, the stilts are like some kind of Tim Burton-esque hallucination.

9. "Bad Romance" at the 2009 American Music Awards

OMG! Nobody told me the evil praying mantis with flashing lights on its head and stomach would be performing instead!

10. "Bad Romance" on Jay Leno

This was right after the Adam Lambert debacle at the 2009 American Music Awards. Gaga slyly one-ups him by wearing something that looks like it's half life preserver half couch, or like she's Igor with massive shoulders. Oh, and those back-up dancers? Yeah, those are S&M masks. NBC will show you what ABC dislikes. Except when it comes to Conan, of course.
