Former Guns N' Roses Bassist Working With Jane's Addiction

Jane's Addiction
A bassist who used to have an alcohol problem has joined a band who were famous for their own substance abuse difficulties throughout the early '90s.

Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is now reportedly a member of Jane's Addiction, according to fansite Xiola. This is because founding bassist Eric Avery left the band for the second time in their history. There's been no official announcement about Avery's departure or McKagan joining the group.

Jane's Addiction are currently working on their first album since 2003's Strays, which was to be their first with Avery since 1990's Ritual De Lo Habitual. It's not known whether McKagan will appear on the record, but if Avery's not on it there's obviously a good chance.

"Monday we get together to write new music and craft a future," singer Perry Farrell wrote in a Facebook post last month.

Avery left the band in 1991 following the tour in support of that album. Guitarist Dave Navarro followed suit, which led to the entire band's breakup.

Jane's Addiction reunited for the first time in 2003, but Avery was not a part of that reunion. Chris Chaney handled bass duties on Strays and the tour in support of it instead. Avery rejoined the band for their most recent reunion and was part of the lineup for their tour with Nine Inch Nails.
