Grizzly Bear's Music In New Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ryan Gosling Movies

Grizzly Bear have contributed music to Jack Goes Boating, the upcoming Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt, Capote) film in which the Academy Award-winning actor also makes his directorial debut.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Even Lurie provided the "gentle, piano-centric score" to the film, which Grizzly Bear helped with "feathery, cerebral harmonies." But confusingly, Variety reports Grizzly Bear did all the music to the film, while Lurie just provided "additional music." We guess both their music is used in the movie any way you look at it.

Regardless, this won't be the first film Grizzly Bear's music shows up in this year. Their talents are also featured in Blue Valentine, the new Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson, Lars And The Real Girl) movie that also stars Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain, Synecdoche, New York).

In Jack Goes Boating, Hoffman plays Jack, a socially-awkward limousine driver who only has two friends, both of whom want him to become more comfortable around other people and set him up on a date with one of their friends (Amy Ryan). He later discovers his two friends — who are married — have been trying to socialize him in an effort to keep their minds off their crumbling marriage.

Both Jack Goes Boating and Blue Valentine screened at the Sundance Film Festival and open in theatres later this year.

Grizzly Bear are taking a break from touring, but will return to the road in March to play these shows in support of last year's Veckatimest:
