Good Charlotte Finish Album, Scrap It, Start Over

First, the good news — Good Charlotte have scrapped an album they were done. The bad news, however, is that they intend to start over recording something new.

The pop-punk quartet, spent August to October of last year working on Cardiology, the follow-up to 2007's Good Morning Revival. But they decided they were unhappy with the disc after hearing the tapes of it when they returned home from Australia earlier this month.

"When we got back from the last trip to Australia, we had pretty much finished recording the record," guitarist Benji Madden wrote in a Jan. 19 post on Good Charlotte's website. "I went into the studio to hear some roughs and it just wasn't right.

"I couldn't figure it out. I was so lost. I love the songs, I love the lyrics, so what was the problem. I was just so bewildered. Devastated actually. This had never happened. I felt crazy. Like this. I told our manager to just PAUSE everything and I need time to think. I called all the boys immediately and called an emergency meeting. Everyone sat down. And I just said, 'Guys, we gotta start over.'"

The rest of Good Charlotte agreed, and the band are now in Vancouver, re-recording Cardiology with producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Dashboard Confessional).

We bet most of the world is still going to think it sucks when it comes out, re-do or not.
