Flaming Lips Frontman On Google Street View Sitting In Bathtub Outside His House

Wayne Coyne

When Google Street View became available for your city, did you immediately go on it and look for things that were immediately recognizable to you? We did?

(For the record, CHARTattack publisher Edward Skira shows up in the window of our office on Google Street View, and my bike is also visible across the street.)

Well, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne shows up outside his Oklahoma City house in images that are available for the midwestern U.S. city. What's even better is that he's sitting in a bathtub with a sign that says "blob in the bath."

Coyne can be seen seated in the bathtub, which according to the forum on The Flaming Lips' website, Coyne and his wife Michelle Coyne set up for a 2007 Halloween party. The Google Sight Seeing blog later confirmed it was in fact Coyne sitting in a bathtub outside his house.

Google Street View shot its images of Oklahoma City on June 10, 2008. It's not known whether Coyne knew they were coming and planned this whole thing or if it was a complete accident documenting his incredibly awesome weirdness, but we wouldn't put planning it past him.

To prove it really is Coyne in the picture, fans on The Flaming Lips' forum posted a video of Coyne in the bathtub at a 2007 Halloween shindig, and you can see some of it (which is truly bizarre and seems to involve a lot of flashing lights, wigs and barking dogs) below:

There are also pictures of the "Blob In The Bath" event (from 2007, we think, not 2008) on The Flaming Lips' MySpace page.

The Flaming Lips released their 12th studio album, Embryonic, last year.
