The National's Clogs Side Project Releasing Album Featuring Sufjan, My Brightest Diamond

The National

Clogs, the side-project featuring members of The National, will release The Creatures In The Garden Of Lady Walton on March 2 through Brassland.

The album is a song-cycle composed by Padma Newsome and The National's Bryce Dessner with vocal work from My Brightest Diamond's Shara Worden. Other performers on the album include The National's Aaron Dessner and Matt Berninger, Sufjan Stevens and the Osso String Quartet.

The 10-track effort is the follow-up to 2006's Lantern and the first to be primarily non-instrumental material.

Clogs — consisting of Bryce Dessner, Newsome, Rachael Elliott and Thomas Kozumplik — will play a handful of U.S. dates behind the record beginning with a two night stand at Minneapolis' Southern Theater Feb. 19 and 20. The band are also playing throughout Austin's South By Southwest Music Festival starting March 12 before performing at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tenn. in late March.

The National's first shows of 2010 will also take place at the Big Ears Festival 2010 March 26 to 28 alongside Andrew W.K., Gang Gang Dance, Joanna Newsom, The XX and Vampire Weekend.

The National — who released a rarities/live album called The Virginia EP in 2008 — are planning to release a new studio album this year, the follow-up to 2007's Boxer.
