Coldplay Sued For Plagiarism... Again

As if being accused of plagiarizing one song wasn't enough, Coldplay have now been slapped with another copyright infringement suit from a man who claims he wrote three of their tunes.

Sammie Lee Smith filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday in which he claims he wrote "Yellow," "Clocks" and "Trouble," three of Coldplay's biggest hits, according to TMZ. The website says Smith is seeking an unknown amount of damages and wants Coldplay to stop playing the songs.

Smith says since 1976, he's "recorded approximately 100 tapes, each tape containing approximately 40 songs," according to TMZ.

Smith's lawsuit reportedly describes the singer as "well talented" and "unknown," according to The Daily Telegraph.

In December 2008, instrumental guitarist Joe Satriani sued Coldplay for plagiarism, claiming their "Viva La Vida" lifted portions from his "If I Could Fly." That lawsuit was settled in September.

In September, singer/songwriter Andy Gallagher accused Coldplay of ripping their "Strawberry Swing" video off from his clip for "Something Else." At around the time of Satriani's lawsuit, Brooklyn, N.Y. band Creaky Boards claimed "Viva La Vida" also plagiarized portions of one of their songs.

Coldplay are working on the follow-up to 2008's Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends in London, England with producer Brian Eno (U2, Talking Heads).
