Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke is in hospital after being involved in a hit and run while riding a motorcycle on Monday (Jan. 11).

An update on MTV personality Riki Rachtman's (Headbanger's Ball) Twitter states Clarke broke his leg in the incident.

"Some asshole turned in front of one of my bestfreinds [sic] yesterday he was on a bike and is now in the hospital. I'm going there now," Rachtman tweeted.

Shortly thereafter, Rachtman confirmed it was Clarke.

"I spoke w/him [sic] his legs busted up pretty bad. I'm going to see him now. It was a hit and run. Ill [sic] tell you more later."

Three hours later, Rachtman wrote: "Leaving hospital now. Gilbys [sic] got some good breakage in that leg. He is in good spirits considering."

Fellow guitarist Tracii Guns also reportedly updated his Facebook about the crash, saying Clarke "got nailed on his motorcycle" and his leg was broken in three places.

Clarke — who released a self-titled solo album in 2007 — thanked the fans on his own Twitter for "all the kind wishes..." He's set to have surgery on his legs since he can no longer stand up.

There's no word if the person who hit Clarke has been arrested or charged.
