No Kids frontman Nick Krgovich has started a '50s and '60s-style pop project called Gigi, and the outfit will release their Maintenant debut album on Feb. 10 through Tomlab.

Maintenant features guest appearances from Owen Pallett, Ladyhawk's Darcy Hancock and Duffy Driediger, Karl Blau and Veda Hille, among others. The disc was produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer) and features songs inspired Phil Spector-era/Brill Building pop.

You can hear four of Gigi's songs on their MySpace page.

Krgovich and Stewart first started talking about making '60s-style pop in 2005 when Stewart bought two vintage plate reverbs and wanted to use them to record classic sounding pop. The duo invited their friends into Vancouver's Hive Studios, where Maintenant's tunes were recorded over a period of three years.
