Liars will release an extended version of their upcoming fifth studio album, Sisterworld, which will feature remixes by some pretty important people in the indie rock world.
Radiohead's Thom Yorke, TV On The Radio singer Tunde Adebimpe, Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, The Melvins, Alan Vega of Suicide, Chris & Cosey and Blonde Redhead have remixed the album's tracks. Their remixes will appear on a bonus disc that will come with the expanded version of the album when it's released March 9 through Mute.
"On this project we wanted to help develop and expand the role of the remix, particularly to engage artists less acknowledged for their work in the field," singer/guitarist Angus Andrew says. "They were asked to 'reinterpret' the song by any means necessary and the result is definitely the most exciting collaborative effort we've been involved in."
Liars will precede Sisterworld with the release of its first single, "Scissor," on Feb. 16.
Andrew, percussionist/guitarist/synthesizer player Aaron Hemphill and drummer Julian Gross have also announced a handful of North American dates that will take place in April.
