Steven Page, Barenaked Ladies Albums Out In February, March

Barenaked Ladies with former member Steven Page

The next few months will be full of new music from the Barenaked Ladies and former member Steven Page.

A Singer Must Die, Page's a collaboration with the Toronto-based Art Of Time Ensemble, will be released Feb. 16 through Pheromone Recordings.

Page is part of the collective that was started by pianist Andrew Burashko that also features Sarah Slean, former Rheostatics singer/guitarist Martin Tielli and Hawksley Workman amongst its membership.

A Singer Must Die features Page and the Art Of Time Ensemble covering well-known songs by Leonard Cohen, Rufus Wainwright, The Weakerthans, Radiohead, Elvis Costello, The Mountain Goats, The Magnetic Fields, The Divine Comedy, Jane Siberry and... the Barenaked Ladies.

No track list has been revealed for A Singer Must Die yet. Page will release his debut solo album, which will feature all-new songs, in May. Page will support A Singer Must Die with a series of dates throughout southern Ontario in February and March.

The Barenaked Ladies will drop All In Good Time, their 11th studio album, on March 30 through their Raisin Records label, which will now be distributed by EMI Music.

Singer/guitarist Ed Robertson, keyboardist/singer Kevin Hearn, bassist Jim Creeggan and drummer Tyler Stewart recorded the disc with longtime producer and former Rheostatics drummer Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Doughboys, Ashley MacIsaac) in Toronto in the spring of 2009. It was mastered by Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, Simple Minds) at the end of the year.

"This is a really important record for us and we're really proud of it," Robertson says. "We're redefining who we are, and how we communicate as a band, and as friends.

"The album has an emotional rawness to it that we may have shied away from in the past. I think we pushed ourselves to heavier places, and also allowed for some really spacious moments. We can't wait to play these songs live."

It's not known what's on All In Good Time yet, but first single "You Run Away" will hit radio later this month.

In the meantime, Floridians can see the Barenaked Ladies at the Taste Of The NFL Super Bowl hunger relief event that takes place Feb. 6 in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are available through the Taste Of The NFL website.

BNL are also scheduled to perform at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver next month, and tickets are available at vancouver2010.com.
