Carl Newman says The New Pornographers' upcoming fifth studio album is done.
"Just finished the next New Pornographers album, I am pretty damn sure," he wrote on his Twitter on Friday (Jan. 1). "Next up? Another goddamn album of some kind, I guess."
It's not known when the album will be out, nor has a title been announced yet. The New Pornographers do want to the follow-up to 2007's Challengers sometime this year, though.
Most of The New Pornographers' members were busy with other projects throughout 2009.
Newman released his sophomore studio album under the A.C. Newman moniker, Get Guilty, early last year.
Neko Case's latest album, Middle Cyclone, also came out in 2009, while Kathryn Calder released another album with her band, Immaculate Machine.
Dan Bejar's Destroyer released an EP titled Bay Of Pigs and continued promoting 2008's Trouble In Dreams, and his Swan Lake side project also put an album out.
Drummer Kurt Dahle appeared on his brother and Limblifter member Ryan Dahle's debut solo release, Irrational Anthems, while synthesizer player Blaine Thurier released a film titled A Gun To The Head, which screened at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.
