U2 2009's Top-Grossing Touring Act

U2
U2 raked in more money from concert tickets than any other act last year.

The Dublin, Ireland four-piece grossed $123 million U.S. (about $128 million Canadian) on their U2 360 Tour in 2009, and sold more than 1.3 million tickets, according to Pollstar.com.

Nobody else had even the slightest chance of coming close to matching what singer Bono, guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. made on tour. Bruce Springsteen finished in second place with a mere $30 million U.S. (about $31 million Canadian).

Elton John and Billy Joel, Britney Spears, AC/DC, country singer Kenny Chesney, the Jonas Brothers, Dave Matthews Band, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica rounded out the top 10 of Pollstar's list of the top-grossing touring acts of 2009.

U2 will continue selling tickets this year when their 360 Tour returns to the road in June. The band are slated to play shows throughout North America and Europe in support of last year's No Line On The Horizon.
