Ron Sexsmith Finishes Recording New Album

Singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith hopes to have his new, as-yet untitled studio album out sometime in 2010.

"Well we've just finished recording on my new album so all that remains is mixing, mastering, album art and then hopefully we can get it out somehow in 2010," Sexsmith recently wrote on his website.

"It's been a wonderful session from start to finish and I'm excited for y'all to hear it. With any luck I'll be hitting the road with a full band and a truck load of new songs."

Sexsmith released his last album, Exit Strategy Of The Soul, in 2008 and spent most of that year touring behind it. He toured sporadically in 2009, and played a string of Ontario dates in November.

In related news, Sexsmith recently appeared on an episode of Spectacle: Elvis Costello With... alongside Sheryl Crow, Neko Case and Jesse Winchester. The episode aired in the U.S. on the Sundance chancel last week but will be on Canadian television in early 2010. He performed the title track to Maybe This Christmas – A Holiday Collection, which was released on iTunes on Dec. 1.

Sexsmith will also play the Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on New Year's Eve as he opens for The Sadies.
