Beastie Boys To Release Album in 2010

Beastie Boys

The making of Beastie Boys' The Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 has been arduous.

After they spent the last six months supporting Adam "MCA" Yauch's battle with salivary gland cancer, the Beastie Boys have announced that the album will finally be released in early 2010.

The disc was initially set for release this September, but the album was pushed back indefinitely after Yauch's diagnosis in July and a number of tour dates were cancelled. Yauch then underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor.

After recovering from surgery, Yauch told Gothamist the band intend to release the album early next year.

"We're just figuring that out right now. But hopefully, it looks like it'll be coming out early part of next year," Yauch said. "I don't know that it's official yet, but that seems to be the direction we're moving in."

Yauch is busying himself with his film company, Oscilloscope Laboratories, until the release of the new album. They've produced and distributed documentaries like The Garden, Wendy And Lucy and The Messenger. The company will release a new "Circle Of Trust" subscription service, where the next 10 DVDs distributed by the company will be sent to subscribers for $150 U.S.

As Yauch recovers, he ensures fans the Beastie Boys will be back in full swing in 2010, as they have already been approached to appear at a number of festivals.
