Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax Touring Together

In what's pretty much an '80s metal fan's dream, the "big four" thrash metal bands — Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax — will all play shows together for the first time this summer.

According to Pollstar, all four bands will play the Sonisphere Festival dates in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic which take place June 16 and 19, respectively. It's possible they could make more appearances at other Sonisphere dates as well.

"Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal's big four would not only still be around and more popular than ever, but will now play together for the first time," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement. "What a mindfuck! Bring it on!"

Other Sonisphere dates will take place in Knebworth, England, Stockholm, Sweden, Pori, Finland, Zurich, Switzerland, Sofia, Bulgaria, Athens, Greece, Bucharest, Romania, Istanbul, Turkey and Barcelona, Spain, but the "big four" are not confirmed to play those shows yet.

Slayer and Anthrax will, however, play the Knebworth date, which already has a monster of a lineup that also includes Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, Iggy And The Stooges, The Cult and Rammstein. Slayer are also playing the Stockholm and Pori shows. The lineups for gigs in Stockholm and Pori have also been announced, and the bands playing the rest of the shows will be announced soon.
