Flight Of The Conchords Not Returning For Third Season

After two seasons and 22 episodes, the Conchords shall fly no longer.
Indeed, amidst swirling rumours of the show's demise, New Zealand's "fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo" of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie have made it official: the Flight Of The Conchords are not returning to television.
"We've noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won't be returning for a third season," they wrote on their website.
"We're very proud of the two seasons we made and we like the way the show ended. We'd like to thank everyone who helped make the show and also everyone who watched it. While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist."
Both members will stay busy. Clement will star in two movies next year: the computer animated Despicable Me and Predicament, a New Zealand crime-comedy. McKenzie, for his part, welcomed a daughter into his family last year, and starred in Diagnosis: Death, a horror-comedy.
Still, the show went out with a bang. This fall saw duo release sophomore album I Told You I Was Freaky, while the show collected 3.1 million viewers and garnered six Emmy nominations this year, including outstanding comedy series and outstanding original music and lyrics.
There's no word on whether the duo will collaborate in the future.
I guess we'll never know if the hiphopopotamus or the rhymenocerous came out on top. Maybe it's better than way.
