Jay Reatard Attacked On Stage

Jay Reatard
Jay Reatard doesn't have the best time with angry audience members, and he had to fend off two angry dudes who attacked him during his show in Austin, Texas on Wednesday (Dec. 9) night.

According to Austin 360, the show at Emo's was stopped 40 minutes in after two fans attacked Reatard after he announced he was performing the evening's final song. The website reports Reatard retaliated by swinging his microphone stand at them, giving the audience the finger and leaving the stage.

The two fans were arrested following the show, and Reatard's publicist told Pitchfork the attack was "totally unprovoked." It's unclear if they've been charged at this time.

Was one of them the dude who got his shirt ripped and noggin thunked by a beer pitcher during that infamous Toronto gig?

In case you've forgotten, Reatard's April 2008 show at Toronto's Silver Dollar Room was cut short after 10 minutes when an audience member wandered on stage and socked Reatard in the back of the head. He retaliated by ripping the stage invader's shirt and hurling an empty beer pitcher at the man's head. Reatard then packed up his gear and left the venue.

You can see Reatard on Thursday (Dec. 10) at Dallas' Granada Theater and on New Year's Eve at Milwaukee's Riverside Theater with Spoon.
