Tegan And Sara, Metric, Sarah McLachlan Amongst First Announced Lilith Fair 2010 Performers

The first set of musicians participating in the 2010 edition of Lilith Fair have been announced, and there'll will be plenty of familiar faces.
Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Erykah Badu, Indigo Girls and Tegan And Sara are returnees who performed during previous runs of the summer festival, which last took place in 1999.
Some of the next generation of performers announced include Metric, Mary J. Blige, Chantal Kreviazuk and The Submarines.
Tegan And Sara viewed playing Lilith Fair as a pivotal point in their careers.
"Sara and I played one of the last Lilith Fair shows ever 10 years ago in Edmonton. We only played one show and it was on the smallest stage, in the rain, to nearly no one," Tegan Quin said, in a statement.
"And yet, for the past 10 years, it continues to come up in almost every interview and is something we honestly look back on as a very important event in our career. The impact of Lilith Fair was felt all over the world, and its significance still resonates with women and the music industry itself 10 years later."
Like the original version of Lilith Fair, the festival will be headed by Sarah McLachlan and co-founder/Nettwerk Records main man Terry McBride.
Festival organizers say they'll be announcing more Lilith Fair performers in the upcoming months.
According to their website, Lilith Fair will make its way to at least three Canadian cities, with Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver listed on their first round of tour dates. As reported earlier, the festival is also expected to spend two weeks in Europe and the U.K., as well. They haven't announced specific dates or details yet.
