Liz Trinnear Is Next MuchMusic VJ

Liz Trinnear

The search for the next MuchMusic VJ is over.

MuchMusic have selected Liz Trinnear, the "super-outgoing" blonde with the "nerdy cool vibe," to occupy the throne.

Trinnear joins the golden-tressed lineage of VJs such as Leah Miller, Amanda Walsh, Rebecca Rankin, Rachel Perry, Teresa Roncon, Angela Dorhmann and, heck, we'll even throw Steve Anthony in the mix, too.

Trinnear was born in London, Ont., and the 21-year-old University Of Western student's selection comes after over three months of searching. Trinnear was voted the best of the bunch, beating out over 4,000 other applicants.

The new new media personality went head to head with other contestants in online competitions for MuchMusic's VJ Search 2.0, and appeared on TV during installments of Much On Demand. She prevailed over finalists such as Summerside, P.E.I.'s Alli Walker, Richmond Hill, Ont.'s Laith Hakeem and Toronto's Marlon Palmer.

She plans to take her new job very seriously.

"For me, MuchMusic is more than just a TV station," Trinnear said in a statement. "It's music, it's pop culture, it's a Canadian lifestyle. Being a VJ is about bridging the gap between the audience and their dreams, and I'm so happy to be able to help them do that."

MuchMusic honchos are also confident in Trinnear's abilities.

"Liz definitely has what it takes to be the next big thing on Canadian television," said MuchMusic's director of programming Sheila Sullivan. "She has proven to connect with our audience... and the fans are our ultimate barometer on what's in, what's out, and who's cool. Turns out, Liz is cool."

But don't expect the honeymooning to last long.

Good luck, Liz — because like every new blonde, female VJ in Much history, you've now been anointed the next object of hatred for thousands of Canadian teenaged girls.
