Beastie Boy Adam Yauch says he's recovering well after having surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his salivary gland last summer.

"I'm feeling fine now, after the surgery," he told the Movie Line website. "But it's definitely an interesting thing, you know?"

Yauch also says the Beastie Boys could pick up the work on new record Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 at some point soon. The album was put on hold after he was diagnosed with cancer.

"We're just in the process of figuring [the album] out now," he told Movie Line. "The record was pretty much set for release this past September, but we had to postpone it because of health issues."

Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in July. He immediately underwent treatment, and the Beastie Boys cancelled all their upcoming tour dates and pushed the release of Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 back indefinitely. After his tumour was removed, he took a trip to see Tibetan doctors in Dharamsala, India and started eating a vegan/organic diet in an effort to get well.

Yauch now says he and his other two bandmates have already been approached about playing festivals in the summer of 2010.

"That's definitely something we're discussing and trying to figure out if that makes sense," he told Movie Line. "Believe me, it would be fun if it does come together."

In the meantime, Yauch's been working with his film distribution company, Oscilloscope Laboratories, to create a kind of "DVD of the month" subscription package.

For $150 U.S. (about $ Canadian), you can join The Circle Of Trust, which means you'll get one DVD from Oscilloscope Laboratories before they hit stores. The company distributes films like 2008's Wendy And Lucy and Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, a documentary about the musician of the same name.
