The Whigs To Release New Album In 2010

The Whigs have announced their long-awaited new album In The Dark to be released on March 2 on ATO Records.

The follow up to the critically acclaimed Mission Hill aims to "capture the band's on-stage passion…[and] reveals another layer in the band's songwriting" — take that, and mix it with a "two-chord guitar and drums furor worthy of The Who" and you have a pretty wicked sound.

While final details on the album have yet to be released, the band have also announced a brief headlining December tour, to be followed by more expansive North American dates in the new year.

Following in the footsteps of great Athens, Ga. artists before them, The Whigs have developed a huge following not unlike R.E.M., Of Montreal, or The B-52's, and are showing some fan-love this holiday season by releasing two new songs off the record for free. "In The Dark" and "Hundred/Million" available for download here.
