Arcade Fire have been mum on details about their new album. That's why we've gotten information from people in other bands about it — namely, Marcus Mumford, of British folksters Mumford And Sons.
According to Mumford, Markus Dravs (Coldplay, Brian Eno) will helm the boards for the next Arcade Fire album.
"I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but yeah, he's working on the next Arcade Fire record at the moment," Mumford said in an interview BBC News. "I'm sure that's public knowledge, because he's been there for about six months."
Oops.
Secrecy aside, their selection of Dravs comes as no surprise — he engineered their last effort, 2007's Neon Bible. Dravs also produced Mumford And Sons' Sigh No More, an album that will be topping plenty of 2009 year-end lists.
NME.com reports that Dravs called Arcade Fire's new material "better" than their previous work — mighty praise for the band that wrote Neon Bible and 2004's groundbreaking Funeral.
The band have been relatively quiet since concluding the Neon Bible tour, only contributing a re-recorded version of "Wake Up" to the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack.
They haven't yet targeted a release date for their new album.
