British industrial band
Nitzer Ebb are back and will release their first studio album in 15 years,
Industrial Complex, on March 9.
The duo have been selling the 12-track "tour edition" of the album on a recent U.S. club tour, though iTunes and Amazon both list its proper release date as March 9. It will be released in Europe much earlier on Jan. 22. It will be Nitzer Ebb's first studio album since 1995's
Big Hit.
Vaughn "Bob" Harris, who's one half of the duo that includes Doug McCarthy, recently told Denver's Westword that Nitzer Ebb reunited when McCarthy emailed him about people who'd been asking whether the band would ever get back together.
"Because Douglas had been doing some live shows in Europe [with FixmerMcCarthy], people were asking about the Ebb and if there was any chance of the Ebb ever doing shows again. Douglas said he doubted it because he and I hadn't spoken for seven years at that point. But he called me and it just so happened that I had been doing a lot of studio projects and was looking for a change of pace.
"So he caught me at the right time and I said, 'Let's meet up and talk about it."
Nitzer Ebb ended up doing a few shows to promote a 2006's
Body Of Work, a best-of collection released by former label Mute Records. Three years later, the duo had a new album.
For those who are curious, yes,
Industrial Complex does feature "Never Known," which appeared on this year's
Saw VI soundtrack.
Nitzer Ebb will finish 2009 on the road in North America before spending early 2010 touring Europe with Depeche Mode. You can see Nitzer Ebb here:
