Thee American Revolution (Featuring Apples In Stereo Members) Release New Album

The Elephant 6 collective has produced plenty of legendary weirdness including its flagship bands, Neutral Milk Hotel and Of Montreal.
Robert Schneider, the label's co-founder and the frontman of lo-fi, hi-octane pop group The Apples In Stereo was central to much of that success.
Schneider continues to churn out noisy, quirky pop songs. His newest band, Thee American Revolution, have just released Buddha Electrostorm, their debut album.
The album marks the much-anticipated return of Elephant 6, who have produced cult groups like Elf Power, Olivia Tremor Control and Dressy Bessy.
But Thee American Revolution — a project reportedly overseen by 1960s British musician W. Shears (not to be confused with the fictious leader of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, of course) — focuses on heavy, psychedelic R&B, combining fuzzy guitars, soul choirs and Mellotrone flourishes with Schneider's signature proggy experimentation.
It's a departure from Apples In Stereo, whose Beatles-with-a-twist track "Energy" was covered on American Idol and subsequently featured on Pepsi and Saturn commercials.
Fitting, perhaps. But if a Neutral Milk Hotel song ends up as a Burger King jingle, it's a sure sign of the apocalypse.
